Timothy Carlson- I am currently a junior at the University of Washington studying marketing and public relations in their Communications Department and working on my sales certificate from the Foster School of Business. I have done work for a few small business designing marketing campaigns, some of which focused on the environment. From this I have learned how businesses use the environment to their advantage to make money and sell products. A few of my hobbies include backpacking, soccer, tennis, running, and movies. I really enjoy being outside and taking advantage of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer in terms of outdoor activities.
Abby Jermasek–I am a Seattle native. Raised on the “eastside” and currently commuting back and forth between Kirkland and the University of Washington as I finish up my senior year and Communication degree and also continue other activities such as leadership in Generation Church (a “youth ministry” on Greek Row), high school track and field coaching, and an internship with a non-profit. I genuinely love enjoying life with friends and family and enjoying it actively! Some of my favorite places to be are on trails running or hiking, on a boat, at the beach and mostly I enjoy just being in the sun! I am passionate about health, social justice, my local church, traveling, running and of course coffee!
Tara Slosberg – I am a communication major studying at the University of Washington. Besides being a full time student, I also work as a freelance designer and wedding photographer for the Seattle area. One of my other passions involves music, and I get to enjoy both hobbies by working as an in-studio performance photographer for KEXP 90.3. I also own a French Bulldog puppy named Wilbur, who occupies most of my time with walks, play time, and kisses!
Eugenia Jacobsen – I am from Portland, Oregon and have been enjoying my first year at the University of Washington. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest– where I love to go camping, running, and scope out farmers markets– cultivated my interest in environment early on. I am having fun exploring my Seattle surroundings– so far, one of my favorite sights is the amazing view I have of Mt. Rainier on the way to class!
Zoe Burgess – I am originally from Mill Valley, CA and moved to Seattle 4 years ago to attend the University of Washington. Seattle is very similar to San Francisco so I instantly felt at home here. I am a Communication major and and Environmental Science Resource Management minor which pretty much encompasses my two passions. I grew up in Muir Meadows, part of the U.S. National Park that holds Muir Woods, founded by famous naturist John Muir, so my passion for nature and the safety of our environment has almost been inherent since birth. Seattle is a great place to further this passion and I enjoy many aspects of the greater Seattle environment, both urban and more rural.
Jason Courter – I am a junior studying communications here at the University of Washington. Having spent most of my life in the Seattle area I have experienced many of the great things our environment has to offer from spending time on the waters of Puget Sound and Lake Washington to enjoying the snow at the mountain passes. While I am unlikely to be considered an environmentalist, I recognize the importance of protecting our natural resources and nature itself. It is an interest in that balance between protectionism and industry that has me excited about participating in this blog. In my free time you can probably find me at a ballgame or on the court coaching basketball.
